But it is men who are often the ultimate decision makers when it comes to sexual/reproductive heath. An integral component of the ACQUIRE Project is promoting men as partners in reproductive health and family planning, by encouraging shared responsibility. ACQUIRE promotes the constructive role men can play in protecting their health and that of their families.
By reaching out to men with information, education, and services, ACQUIRE seeks to encourage couples to make decisions together. The ACQUIRE Project stresses the importance of meeting men's reproductive health needs, as well as those of their partners, by providing services for men and by educating them about issues such as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), gender-based violence, and contraceptive options. A critical ACQUIRE strategy in increasing access and use of family planning is raising awareness of and improving the quality of vasectomy services.
Through its work, the ACQUIRE Project is also addressing gender and the stereotypes that contribute to gender inequity.
ACQUIRE is participating in a gender norms initiative, through the President-s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Read more>>>
