Funding

The core funding for the ACQUIRE Project-s global technical leadership activities comes from the U.S. Agency for International Development-s (USAID-s) Office of Population and Reproductive Health. USAID-s Office of Health, Infectious Diseases, and Nutrition (HIDN) also provides funds for global technical leadership on maternity care-related activities.

ACQUIRE also receives funding through the President-s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to undertake activities contributing to the scale-up of USAID-supported HIV and AIDS projects. ACQUIRE has already been selected as a vehicle to support PEPFAR activities in Kenya, Rwanda, and South Africa.

In addition, ACQUIRE receives field support from USAID missions in various countries for specific activities to be undertaken in that country. To simplify the process of obtaining mission funding, ACQUIRE features a special type of contracting mechanism known as a -Leader with Associates Award.- (PDF, 54KB) This allows missions to -buy into- the project with mission funds while retaining programmatic and budgeting oversight.
